Lunch Lecture KIVI Waterbouw

[Rescheduled] The new date for this activity is the 18th of June! Keep an eye on this page for the location since this is not yet determined. Joining both the Lunch Lecture and Workshop is not required.

The KIVI Hydraulic Engineering department cordially invites you to the Delta Brainstorm on 18th of June. After the great success of the Delta Brainstorm last December in The Hague, a variant of this session is now being organised in the East of the Netherlands. During this inspiring session, we will discuss crucial issues regarding the future of our Dutch delta together with experts. The focus here is on the lines of thought from the sea level rise knowledge programme: Protection, Seaward and Moving with the times. During this lunch lecture, Saskia van Vuren (advisor to the Delta Commissioner staff) will take us along in these lines of thought. After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to brainstorm and discuss and generate ideas yourself based on the following themes:

  1. Protection (open/closed): How can we further strengthen our existing measures such as dikes, sand replenishments and water pumps to protect the Netherlands against rising sea levels?
  2. Seaward: What opportunities do we see to use space at sea, for example by building new islands or other constructions, to solve problems such as high water in rivers?
  3. Moving with the flow: How can we adapt our land use and our construction to give water more space, for example by temporarily flooding areas or by building water-resistant?
