In this lecture, we will tell you about one of our construction projects where Strukton built a tunnel and road beneath the heavily trafficked A2 and N2 near Eindhoven. Our approach involved prefabricating the tunnel next to its final location and then carefully manoeuvring it into position. This operation presented significant challenges, primarily due to the limited timeframe available for road closure. To mitigate the risks involved, intensive preparations was required by the project team. One of our mitigation methods was using 4D Building Information Modelling (BIM). Developing a 4D BIM planning gave the team the opportunity to digitally simulate the construction process before it happened in reality.
