Dear students,

A lot has changed or is going to change for the study of Civil Engineering. Therefore, we have dedicated this page to the most recent (informal) updates.

First-year students

This year, the ultimate datum you can deroll from your studies has changed from the 1st of February to the 1st of March. In many student's cases, this gives them more time to decide on continuing their study or not.  A logical decision as teachers are not able to have all marks back before the 1st of February which is mainly caused by the cut of TA’s. The university mentioned that this change is one-time-only. But is that really the case or will it stay next year?  We will see that next year, but for every 1st year reading this we hope you have decided to stay or deroll already and that you made the best decision for yourself!

Second-year students

The end of the module drink for module 6 has been and with that it was already the end of module 6. Time flies by, when you’re a ConcepT member. Now it is time for module 7. Already, the students had the pleasure of having an excursion to Zwolle, a.k.a the Hartstad of the Netherlands. Here, they met Henk Snel and others. Henk Snel is the legend of module 7 as some older students call him. He invented the Engelenpad, which you have heard about I hope, otherwise you can educate yourself with the lovely internet. This module will give you insight into a really different branch of civil engineering and hopefully you will learn a lot.

Third-year students

By now most third years have finished their minor and hopefully with new knowledge everyone has started their module 11, so  good luck with POK and your bachelor thesis!

Master students

On the 4th of February, Monique Duyvestijn will go on early retirement and therefore stop as study advisor for the master. Luckily, Gijs Medendorp will take over the tasks of Monique. You might have seen him before, as he is also the study advisor of the bachelor. We are Monique thankful for all her efforts and wish here the best for the future.

General updates

On May 1st, our programme directors will change.  After five years in the position of programme director, Denie Augustijn will return full-time to the Water Engineering and Management group to teach and do research. Denie Augustijn will be succeeded by Maarten Krol and we hope that Denie can enjoy his last few months as Programme director. We want to wish Maarten Krol all the luck with his new function!
