Since it is not everyday that the European research center for nuclear physics visit Enschede it is best to make most of this unique opportunity. You can do this by also signing up for one of the two evening workshops.
Unfortunatly for all Enlisch speaking students but these workshops are both in Dutch.
The first workshop last from 17:00 until 18:15 and is about the technologies required to make systems who can monitor protons who travel trhough differend systems of CERN and finially reach the large hadron collider. And when these protons reach the large hadron collider they fly for hours and finially crash into each other.
If that sounds somewhat to technical there is also the second workshop which will last from 18:45 until 19:00 and is given by studens from the Utwente and TU Delft who either just graduated or are still studying and now work with CERN, ,they will tell their stories and the project on which they are currently working.
After this workshop it is also possible to ask questions like; Why on earth would CERN be interested in hiring a civil engineer, I don't understand anything about nuclear physics? (believe me I have also asked this question and it just so happens that they are actually interested in you)
Between the two workshops (18:15-18:45) there is free diner (pizza) available for all participants who sign up for one workshop
The tickets for this event are limited so make sure to sign up quickly!
